Overview

The Preset System enables you to store most of the procedural terrain editing aspects in World Creator's centralized library. This library facilitates the movement of elements between different projects or aids in building a collection of terrain presets that can be quickly assembled using already fine-tuned layers.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Preset Folders

Most of the elements of the larger systems in the World Creator can be saved as a preset.

The Presets folder itself is located in the general hierarchy right above the Options group. Expanding one of its subfolders (e.g. Filters) will reveal a locked World Creator folder containing the official presets included in the World Creator distribution package. Presets are currently available for filters and brushes, but this collection of official presets will be expanded in the future.

Biome

Biome presets allow you to save complete biomes, complete with materials, filters, distributions, and everything else, all at once. This is a great way to simplify the creation of large landscapes with multiple biomes, if you have already created custom biome presets. Furthermore, you can make use of the pre-existing biomes that are already part of your World Creator installation. To create a biome preset, drag and drop it from the Terrain section into the Presets/Biome folder.

Distribution

Distribution presets can simplify your workflow by using commonly used distributions. Furthermore, these presets allow you to save nested distributions, which contain one or more distributions as sub-distributions. You can create a distribution preset by dragging and dropping it from the Terrain section to the Presets/Distribution folder.

Material

Material presets can provide a range of commonly used materials, such as grass, rocks, or sand to support your texturing needs.
All material types can be saved as a preset. To create a new preset, store the material in the Presets/Material folder.

Filter

Filter presets are really handy to quickly preview the effects different filter settings can have on your terrain. Once you have stored a filter in its own sub-folder, you can either drag and drop it into your biomes filter area, or you can preview the changes it would have on your terrain more directly by adding it to your biome filter stack and hovering over all the different presets in the Presets area.

Brushes

Brush presets are utilized in the sculpt shape layer and mask layers of World Creator. To add a new customized brush, drag and drop a black-and-white image onto the Presets/Brushes subfolder in World Creator.

Export

Export presets are helpful when working regularly with the same application. They let you set up all the maps or meshes you need for your next application, and load them the next time you export another terrain. To save an export preset, place it in the Presets/Export subfolder.
