Overview

The distributions in World Creator allow you to create procedural or simulated masks based on the features of your terrain. These masks can be used in filters and materials to apply their effect exactly where you want it. Future updates to World Creator will also add distributions to other areas of World Creator such as Mask Layers.

There are many different results you can get from distributions, ranging from cavity, curvature or height-based mask all the way to more complex such as flow, rocks or paths (that references a path layer) distributions.

Using Distributions

To add a distribution simply press the small plus icon next to the Distribution label.

Similar to World Creators filter system, the distributions work on a layer stack, meaning they work bottom-up and can be set as children of each other, which then affect their parents.

In addition, effects can be applied to each distribution, allowing you to further refine their results to achieve exactly the look you want to create. To learn more about effects please have a look at this article.
